Jacob Hashimoto / Superabundant Atmosphere

2013-06-02 to 2013-10-13

Jacob Hashimoto's artwork embodies his fascination with the intersections of painting and sculpture; abstraction and landscape. His pieces consists of several small objects made from bamboo and silk or paper, which are joined together in larger compositions. Bildmuseet presents Superabundant Atmosphere, which is an installation of thousands of ellipses made from bamboo and silk hanging from the ceiling by distinctly black threads. The art piece takes up an entire showroom and creates a cloud-like formation that appears to permeate through the ceiling.

American artist Jacob Hashimoto (b. 1973) is working in Brooklyn, New York. His works have been displayed at the MACRO in Rome, at Studio La Città in Verona and at the Mary Boone Gallery in New York. The Bildmuseet exhibition is the first presentation of his work in Sweden.
