The exhibition invites you to see aspects of the process of creating architecture. It will demonstrate how structure, materials, light, movement and activity, are examined and tested through the process of creating architectural space.
"Umeå School of Architecture is a laboratory of architecture. In this laboratory we aim in teaching and research to examin and raise questions to renew architecture and establish a possibility for new critical practice. We want to establish a profound relation bet-ween people, society and architecture where architecture is related to the everyday life of people."
In the exhibition Work in Progress Umeå School of Architecture presents the variety of architectural tools needed and methods used: analoque models, conceptual models, videos, drawings and fotos.
During the exhibition the school will also present round-table discussions arranged by students and by faculty. As a special event a group of students will invite to minor work-shops at the platform between Bildmuseet and the School of Architecture. The results will be a part of the exhibition. To demonstrate the way architectural projects are examinated the public are invited to see and hear the review of students projects. It will be projects from various year including the final examin of the master program of Sustainable architectural production.
