The artist Leonor Fini (1907-1996) questioned the boundaries between traditional dichotomies such as feminine and masculine, myth and reality, the conscious and the unconscious. She deliberately went her own way and her work is characterized by a radical, consistent and individual approach. She moved in surrealist circles and participated in surrealist exhibitions while at the same time dissociating herself from the group's foreground figure André Breton and his dominant attitude.
Leonor Fini's versatile art was presented for the first time to a Swedish and Nordic audience at Bildmuseet in the spring of 2014. The book Leonor Fini / Pourqoui pas? contains a rich visual material from the exhibition and previously unpublished texts by the artist Leonor Fini. In addition, newly written contributions by the poet and author Lasse Söderberg, art critic and curator Anna Rådström, as well as curators Cecilia Andersson and Brita Täljedal, Bildmuseet.
