Stina Oscarson / What Do We Need Art For?

Stina Oscarson is a Swedish dramatist, theatre director and cultural writer. A commitment to peace and democracy runs through her work, as does a consistent belief in dialogue.

In her contribution to Bildmuseet’s anniversary forum, Stina Oscarson talks about the importance of art in reminding us that we are human.

With a background as head of the radio theatre at the Swedish Radio and Theatre Director of the Orion Theatre in Stockholm, Oscarson currently works as a freelancer with assignments for the Stockholm City Theatre, Folkoperan and Svenska Dagbladet Culture, among others. In addition, she has written scripts for and directed many theatre productions over the years, authored several books, and been a columnist and writer for newspapers and magazines such as Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet, ETC, Ordfront and Arena.
