The book Såret (The Wound) has been named the best Swedish picture book of 2022 and is now awarded the national award Snöbollen.

Emma AdBåge is one of the country's most noted picture book creators. She made her debut in 2001 and has since written and illustrated several of her own books and made illustrations for around thirty texts by other authors.

The book Såret has been named the best Swedish picture book of 2022 and is now awarded the national award Snöbollen. Emma AdBåge, who has created both image and text, will receive the award in the spring of 2023 during Littfest, the Umeå international literature festival. The associated exhibition at Bildmuseet presents original images and sketches for the book.

Motivation of the jury:

Already the title of the book, Såret, draws the reader into an everyday drama with an existential background. A child is injured and the scene is the school. Around the wound, facial expressions and poses confirm the momentarily dramatic, but examples of image creation as processing are also given here. The theme is visually enhanced by Emma AdBåge letting the red accent color contrast with the institution's pale environment. Rarely has the wound's path from flowing blood to hardened crust – and finally a shiny scar that can evoke memories – been depicted with such nerve!
