In connection with the exhibition Shubigi Rao / Pulp I–IV, opening on 14 March at Bildmuseet, talks with the artist are also organised at venues beyond Bildmuseet. At HDK-Valand, a Thingstigate Talk with Shubigi Rao forms part of this programme.
Thingstigate Talk: Shubigi Rao FRIDAY 21 March, 13:30–15:00 Language: English Free admission, no registration required
The talk takes its point of departure in Shubigi Rao’s long-term artistic project Pulp—an ongoing body of work that over the past decade has explored censorship, the destruction of books, attacks on literacy and libraries, and the loss and erasure of languages. Working across writing, film, drawing and photography, Rao examines cultural erasure from both historical and contemporary perspectives, while also sharing strategies of resistance, preservation and survival.
Shubigi Rao will participate in the talk, offering deeper insights into the exhibition and the artistic practice behind it.
