ART AND TRUTH-TELLING
What counts as truth? In what ways can art expand the language of truth and the process of truth-telling? Art and Truth-Telling marks the process of the Truth Commission for the Sámi people on the Swedish side of Sábmie. Through vuöllie [joik], duöjjie [Sámi crafts], drawing, installation, architecture and glasswork, the exhibition highlights the role of art in shaping personal and collective truths.
Participating are: Avant Joik (Matti Aikio, Katarina Barruk and Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje), Elme Ämting, Sissel M Bergh, Niklas Blindh, Monica L Edmondson, Mats Jonsson, Johanna Minde, Lisa Nyberg, Julia Rensberg, Birgitta Ricklund, Per Elof Nilsson Ricklund, and Risfjells Sameslöjd Vilhelmina (Doris Risfjell and Sven-Åke Risfjell).
Art and Truth-Telling is the first chapter of a year-long collaboration between Bildmuseet and Gaaltije Saemien Museume, rooted in southern Sápmi.
SARA GRANÉR / DERAIL US FROM EVIL
Sara Granér’s vibrant visual language and distinctive fable-like creatures have stepped out of the drawings and assembled around an absurdist model railway. Tufted yarn rugs meet welded scrap metal and ceramics in a playful installation that evokes a society seen from above.
Räls oss ifrån ondo [Derail Us from Evil] explores collective experiences, dreams and frustrations linked to the railway. Symbolically, the railway also represents human communication. Why does it have to be so run-down, and why is booking a ticket so difficult? Where are we heading? Granér combines playfulness with political gravity and existential confusion.
Sara Granér (b. 1980) is rooted in the world of comics and satire. She has published eight books and contributes regularly to newspapers and magazines. In 2025, she was awarded the newly established Löken Grant by the association of Swedish illustrators and graphic designers. This exhibition consists mostly of new works and is produced by Bildmuseet.
ELENA WOLAY & OSKAR KORSÁR
Elena Wolay, founder of Jazz Är Farligt and a key figure in Sweden’s alternative music scene, works today with Malmö City and the Moki & Don Cherry archive. Artist Oskar Korsár, based in Berlin and Malmö, is known for his striking visual language rich in mythological and musical references. As tonight’s DJs, they present a journey from protest songs and folk traditions to electronic soundscapes.
