Zeno Gries Gravity Will Take Us All, 2026 Film, 21 min. 180° dome video projection with original audio recordings of Norbert Wiener and AI recreations of his voice Music by Carl Michael von Hausswolff In his immersive film, Gravity Will Take Us All, artist Zeno Gries conjures the voice of American mathematician and philosopher Norbert Wiener. Wiener founded the field of cybernetics, the scientific study of systems of communication and control, which laid the groundwork for autonomous systems such as AI. In the film, Wiener’s voice – a mixture of real and AI-generated audio based on Wiener’s writings – narrates drone footage of Stockholm, where he died in 1964 on a lecture trip. The film shows us the city through the eyes of Norbert Wiener in a fictionalised account of the moments just before his death. Seeing the world from above, from a non-human perspective where patterns in all matter seem to become visible, the world appears simple and mechanical. But zoomed in, human life reveals itself to be complex and sometimes messy. The film reflects on the difference between creating a model of behaviour in the world – necessary for programming AI agents – and stepping into whatever is in the register beyond life. The agency of the individual person is seen here as both part of a larger context, but also so much more complex than just a mechanical being. We take inspiration from the exhibition AI and the Paradox of Agency, in which participating artists explore and question who, or what, is in control in humanity’s entanglement with artificial intelligence.Among other things, the exhibition raises questions about balancing the needs of society, nature and technology, both now and in the future. In the Creative Workshop a collective library will take shape, a place where you can explore knowledge, thoughts, visions and ideas, be inspired by others, and contribute your own creations. Using paper, card and collage techniques, we create two- and three-dimensional book pages. How do we want to live with AI? What opportunities might AI offer? What would you like to contribute to the collective library? Perhaps an idea about the future? An invention or a solution to a problem? Or maybe there is a skill, piece of knowledge or practical know-how that you would like to share and preserve for future generations? Opening hours: 12.00–17.00. Drop-in and free entrance. After-school groups are welcome but must book in advance. This will be followed by a conversation between Sarah Cook, Rachel Maclean and Dennis Delgado on AI, Art and Agency. __________________The use of AI raises questions about who or what has agency. What does this shift in decision-making power away from the individual mean for artists, as well as for society, the planet and the future of humanity? The new book centres on conversations between Sarah Cook and the artists featured in the exhibition at Bildmuseet, 2026–27: boredom research, Tega Brain, Dennis Delgado, Linda Dounia Rebeiz, Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg, Nicolas Gourault, Zeno Gries, Lawrence Lek, Rachel Maclean, Stephen Marche, Lauren Lee McCarthy, Florian Model, Yuri Pattison, Planetary Portals, Raqs Media Collective, Daniel Shanken, Caroline Sinders & Romy Gad el Rab, Paola Torres Núñez del Prado and Addie Wagenknecht. Zeno Gries is based in Berlin, Germany.Commissioned by Bildmuseet with support from the Jacob Wallenberg Foundation. A part of the AI and the Paradox of Agency exhibition. Zeno Gries is based in Berlin, Germany.Commissioned by Bildmuseet with support from the Jacob Wallenberg Foundation.
