Umeå Academy of Fine Arts 2019

2019-05-03 - 2019-05-19

The Academy of Fine Arts' exhibition is the final show of two years' intensive discussions, research and work. During the Master's programme, the young artists have worked on their individual practices. They have researched into the history, current social relevance, themes, and status of the field of art.

The exhibition provides an insight into the on-going discourse within this field, the questioning of new materials and evaluating traditional ones. It asks questions, triggered by changes in the way we see and touch the world, and by its tangible and virtual realities. It is also a survey of the field of tension between a globalised discussion of how our world is visually represented and a local reality.

Participating artists: Martin Arvidsson, Johannes Blomgren, Jonas Börjesson, Laura Cemin, Siri Elfhag, Adrian Espinos Ferrero, Moa Gustafsson Söndergaard, Jonne Hansson, Agatha Lewandowski, Ingvild Melberg Eikeland, Ingeborg Paulsrud, Alex Rosa, Linda Samuelsson, Peter Stridsberg, and Sally von Rosen.
