This year's exhibition by graduate students from the master's programme at the Academy of Fine Arts at Umeå University is entitled C.R.E.A.M. (Cash Rules Everything Around Me). The title refers to a critical questioning of societal values and the possibilities to challenge their definition through artistic expression.
The exhibition presents works by Carolina Andreasson, Emil Carlsiö, Micaela Cignozzi, Laura Heuberger, Jenny Käll, Ariadna Mangrané, Frederico Sjöstrand de Oliveira and Alexander Skats. Their main tutor is artist Christoph Draeger, Professor at the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.
C.R.E.A.M. is the culmination of five years of study in Fine Arts and displays a wide range of ideas. Based on their specific interests and personalities, the students have developed independent ways of working.

SAT 19/5 12:00-16:00
Open workshop on transformation of materials led by Jenny Käll,
one of the graduating artists participating in the exhibition
C.R.E.A.M. She writes:
Come and try to carve a knife with another knife, bake a bread knife that can then be used as a butter knife to finally be eaten. A transformation of a material to another material, from an extension of a body with a body to another body.
How do we relate to the objects that surround us? We are bound to furniture, food, tools, etc. They become extensions of our bodies, and we extend them. The knife is a knife but maybe it doesn't really become a knife until we use it as one, the way the knife user cannot be a knife user without a knife. In that sense they crate each other. Can this be reproduced in different staged and other forms?
